After four canceled games due to weather, the Wallace Govs will finally kick off their 2025 baseball season this weekend at the PCB College Baseball Classic in Panama City Beach. The team is eager to get back on the field after dealing with snow storms, rain, and canceled games. The Govs will face off against Indian River State College, Eastern Florida State, and Dyersburg State Community College.
NATHANIEL FRAZIER For the Eagle After its first four games were cancelled, it appears as though the Wallace Govs will finally get a chance to open the 2025 baseball season this weekend.
That’s a sharp difference to the past two weeks. The Govs first two games in Arlington, Texas, were cancelled at the home of the Texas Rangers. Their next game against Andrew College last Saturday was cancelled because of the residual effects of a snow storm. “I’m just ready to play baseball,” head coach Ryan Ihle said at the time. “I’m glad we have this facility, but we’ve spent way too much time inside. I’m ready to play baseball and so are the guys.”
On Saturday the Govs will play Eastern Florida State at 1 p.m. and Dyersburg State Community College at 6 p.m. Sunday’s schedule will be determined after the results of the Govs' first three games.
