TheWalkingDeadDeadCity showrunner promises a thorough exploration of Maggie and Negan's relationship: 'We really do get to go deep in terms of Maggie and Negan and what happened between them.'
The Walking Dead: Dead City will go deep into what happened between Maggie and Negan says the spinoff’s showrunner. Given that Negan brutally murdered Maggie’s husband Glenn in an infamous moment from The Walking Dead season 7, it may have seemed unlikely that the former Saviors leader and the one-time farmer’s daughter would become a duo. But a duo they now are, as the Walking Dead Universe embarks upon a year of spinoffs, including the New York-set Maggie-and-Negan two-hander Dead City.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will of course reprise their roles as The Walking Dead heads to post-apocalyptic Manhattan for an all-new set of stories. As for Maggie and Negan’s ever-complex relationship, Dead City showrunner Eli Jorné promises a deeper dive than ever into the dynamics that make Cohan and Morgan’s characters such a strange and fascinating team.
“Walking Dead was an ensemble show. It was a cast of thousands. This show is very focused on Maggie and Negan. ... There aren't a ton of characters, so we get to tell their stories deeply."Maggie and Negan Need To Bury The Hatchet Once And For All One may have thought that The Walking Dead already went as deep as it needed to go into the complexities of Maggie and Negan’s relationship.
But of course forgiveness is not a simple thing for Maggie, given that she was only a few feet away when Negan brutally murdered Glenn, her husband and the father of her child. So perhaps it’s reasonable that, despite her attempts to let the past go, Maggie would still cling to some amount of hatred for the former Saviors leader. However, Walking Dead fans now need to see Maggie let it go, and allow for some resolution of what has been a very long-standing storyline.
Maggie Probably Should Have Killed Negan Long Ago It could of course be argued that Maggie should have killed Negan a long time ago. And it could also be argued that Negan’s insistence on hanging around Maggie all the time feels a bit weird and perhaps even sadistic. Frankly, the continued “relationship” between the foes always seemed a bit contrived if not ridiculous.
