Russian President Vladimir Putin said “decisive actions” would be taken to stabilise the situation in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don. “I will do everything to defend the country,” he said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an emergency televised address on Saturday that an “armed mutiny” by the Wagner Group mercenary force was treason, and that anyone who had taken up arms against the Russian military would be punished.
“I will do everything as a citizen of Russia to defend the country,” Putin said, without mentioning Prigozhin by name. “Decisive measures will be taken. They will be harsh.”“Actions that divide our unity are in essence defeatism before one’s own people,” Putin says. “This is a stab in the back of our country and our people.”
