Ella Cutler, 26, is being treated for brain and spinal injuries after she fell 10 metres from a wall in Dubrovnik. Her insurance company is denying her claim.

A young WA police officer who was hospitalised last month after a horror fall while on holiday in Croatia, has been denied help from her insurance company leaving her family desperately trying to foot the $500,000 medical and repatriation costs.

Now, Cutler’s family have released details about the woman’s trip, stating that she had holiday insurance but that the company “is denying her claim”. On Wednesday, it was revealed the WA Police force had “got right behind the effort to bring Ella home” with Inspector Geoff DeSanges saying she was a part of their “big blue family”.“I understand that her family are experiencing some difficulty in returning her home financially, so I know a lot of people in WA police have got behind that effort which is not surprising to me because we’re very tight-knit blue family,” he said.

Premier Roger Cook also acknowledged Cutler during Parliament on Wednesday saying “she’s a great police officer and frontline worker and our thoughts go out to her and her family and we hope we can resolve those issues soon.”“It’s not a matter of putting her on a normal flight,” she said.“The entire situation has been shocking for my family and Ella has a very long road to recovery.”
