'...everyone that was there was filled with love and wants to heal.'
After the mass shooting that took the lives of 9 VTA workers in San Jose, we take a moment to honor them and hear from those who knew them.
"It was very difficult, my heart breaks for all those people, along for us," said VTA employee Mel Gonzales, as he choked up. The ceremony was full of support and love for everyone in the crowd, but they also addressed the systemic issues facing the light rail agency. VTA has been under pressure to improve its workplace culture since the mass shooting.A sad anniversary for our community and country. How tragic it is that more lives have been lost to similar violence. May each of the lives lost not be in vain. My heart goes out to their family and friends and my hope is that no more have to face what they’re enduring.
