Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio on Monday urged Filipinos to band together and ramp up support for the education sector to enable the youth 'to break free from the dangers of armed struggle' and realize their full potential. READ HERE:
The vice president had been vocal in her resolve to help the government eradicate the country's decades-old insurgency problem by preventing so-called communist terrorist groups from recruiting in schools.
In her Independence Day message, Duterte-Carpio, who concurrently serves as Education secretary, urged citizens to remain inspired by the 'strong legacy of patriotism and love of country' shown by the forefathers to 'carry our people out of the chains of poverty, insurgency, drug addiction, and other threats to our national security.
