Ohio Sen. JD Vance and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will meet tonight in the sole debate among vice presidential candidates.
Vice presidential nominees Ohio Sen. JD Vance and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will debate today, Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. Eastern on CBS. Hosted by CBS News, the debate is set for Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. ET from New York City. It is set to last for 90 minutes and will be simulcast on all major networks.Moderating the VP debate will be “CBS Evening News” anchor and managing editor Norah O’Donnell and “Face the Nation” moderator and CBS News chief foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan., Vance, Republican Donald Trump’s running mate, and VP Kamala Harris’ running mate Walz, will be behind podiums on opposite sides of the stage.
Each candidate will be asked a question and have two minutes to answer then the other candidate will have 2 minutes to respond followed by a 1 minute rebuttal. Moderators will have the discretion to give candidates an additional minute to continue a topic. Each candidate will have 2 minutes each for closing statements. Vance won an earlier coin toss and elected to go second so he will deliver his statement last.
