Advocates say voter discrimination has become more of an issue in Alabama even 59 years after the passage of the Voting Rights Act.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Voting discrimination is still an issue in Alabama even 59 years after the passage of the Voting Rights Act.

“We cannot and we will not accept this new Jim Crow in America,” said Ann Toback, CEO of the Workers Circle. “When you don’t know where you’ve come from, it directly impacts how you’re able to move forward,” said Jerome Dees, policy director for the Southern Policy Law Center.
