Volvo will unveil the EX30 Cross Country concept on February 10th, hinting at a more adventurous and capable version of its popular electric SUV.
The EX30 electric SUV made its debut last year in Canada but has only recently launched in the United States. This timing is likely not coincidental, as Volvo Canada benefits from the model's presence in the American market, ensuring its continued production and availability in Canada. In a move that further strengthens the model's standing, Volvo announced this week that it will unveil a Cross Country version of the EX30 on February 10th.
The official unveiling will take place at a special event in Sweden. So far, the only glimpse we have of the production-ready model is the 2023 concept shown in images. The concept provides a strong indication of what to expect from the production version. Key changes from the regular EX30 will include an increased ground clearance, evident in the concept's design. Additional features likely to appear on the Cross Country version are plastic fender guards, unique 19-inch black wheels, and skid plates, all designed to enhance its rugged aesthetic and off-road capabilities. Volvo had previously hinted at the availability of 18-inch wheels as an option for the Cross Country, a feature anticipated for the production model. The regular EX30 is currently offered with two powertrain options: a single-motor rear-wheel-drive system or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The Cross Country variant is expected to adopt the more powerful dual-motor setup, delivering 422 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. This translates to a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.6 seconds. While Volvo has yet to confirm the availability of the Cross Country variant in North America, its potential appeal in both Canada and northern US states, where Volvo's popularity is on the rise, suggests a strong possibility. On February 10th, we anticipate receiving comprehensive information about the Cross Country, including details regarding its potential arrival in Canada

Volvo EX30 Arrives in the US with a Higher Price Tag Than ExpectedThe eagerly anticipated Volvo EX30, a compact electric SUV, has finally set foot in the US market. However, its price tag comes in higher than initially anticipated. Due to political reasons and newly imposed tariffs on Chinese-manufactured vehicles, Volvo had to delay the EX30's launch and shift its production to Belgium. The most popular trim, the EX30 Twin Motor Performance, starts at $44,900 for the Plus package and $46,600 for the Ultra package. This is significantly higher than the initial $34,950 price announced in 2023. Volvo has not yet revealed when the more affordable version will be available in the US.
