“The monthly expenses at SPCA Seberang Prai are between RM40,000 and RM50,000 for the animals’ food, workers’ salaries and medical expenses,” said treasurer Richard Ong.
Penang Hope of Strays founder Lim Shiang Mey said that upon receiving information about the operator’s detention, volunteers from PHOS and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Seberang Prai decided to help the dogs.All the rescued dogs, she said, were taken to the SPCA Seberang Prai animal centre in Juru, Bukit Mertajam.
“The monthly expenses at SPCA Seberang Prai are between RM40,000 and RM50,000 for the animals’ food, workers’ salaries and medical expenses,” he said. “It may come up to an additional RM7,000 per month to feed these new dogs,” Ong said when met at the SPCA Seberang Prai animal centre.
