Several Houston-area volleyball teams will play for regional titles Saturday.
Rhonda Taormina/ContributorThe Highlanders are headed back to the regional championship match and will get another shot at the state tournament after falling to Bridgeland in the same round last season. The Woodlands has won 10 consecutive matches and is seeking its fifth state appearance. The program last advanced to Garland in 2017 and last brought home a title in 2014.
Lake Creek kept its historic playoff run alive for one more day with the hard-fought victory over Fulshear. The Lions will play in the regional final for the first time in program history. No previous team had advanced past the regional quarterfinals. Lake Creek will take on Brenham at noon Saturday at the Merrell Center with a trip to the state tournament on the line.
