Workers at Volkswagen’s only U.S. production plant have petitioned to hold an election to join the United Auto Workers, the unionplant to join the UAW—in a region where anti-union sentiment runs deep and previous efforts to unionize the VW plant have failed.
Workers at Volkswagen’s assembly plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board to join the union after the supermajority—Volkswagen told Forbes it was notified of the petition and respects “our workers' right to a democratic process,” adding that it will “fully support an NLRB vote so every team member has a chance to vote in privacy.”The NLRB confirmed the election petition to Forbes.
