White alumni at Virginia Military Institute are using a petition and lawsuit to attack diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, claiming they are efforts to introduce critical race theory at the state-supported military college.

. VMI said “a single alumnus was [its] driving force," that it’s “in no way affiliated with or authorized” by the college, student body or the VMI Alumni Agencies, and doesn’t have any link to previous incarnations of the student paper published between 1871 and 2016.

The newspaper’s phone number at the bottom of its website is also the phone number for Morris’s company.Wyatt, VMI’s spokesman, told The Post that he’s recently had productive conversations with the Cadet’s editors and is “hopeful we can come to an agreement before the end of the academic year on recognizing the paper as the official cadet-run paper of the institute.
