A historic contest, the first in 33-years of its kind, will return to Brisbane, completing one of the most jam-packed weeks of sport this year in the city.

Wallabies legend John Eales still holds powerful memories from when he and his Queensland teammates took on a rampant Wales outfit more than three decades ago.

The clash will close out a mammoth eight days in Brisbane, during which six high-octane contests will be played between July 11 and July 19, and will be the first time Queensland have taken on a major touring nation since a 41-5 triumph over Scotland in 2004.

“That was because there is so much history and heritage to these Queensland clashes against international sides, including wins over the All Blacks and Lions .“This match against Wales in July will be a great incentive for Queensland players and a celebration of the heritage of Queensland rugby.”Queensland Rugby Union officials hatched the idea of the contest as an innovation that would provide the state’s top players the chance to hone their skills against the 2023 World Cup quarter-finalists.
