People close to the Vista program believe statement there will be a complete overhaul of the football staff, from the freshman and JV teams to the varsity
Some 18 weeks after an on-campus player incident and 10 weeks after the end of the regular season, the Vista Unified School District finally pulled the trigger,In a statement sent to families and staff from Matt Doyle, Superintendent of Schools for the Vista Unified School District, read in part: “We are restructuring the VHS football coaching and will have a new coaching staff in place moving forward.
The District’s statement also said an investigation revealed “a pattern of inappropriate and unacceptable behavior occurring among a small number of football players … I assure our community that consequences have been and are currently being imposed on a number of student athletes in accordance with district policies, CIF regulations and the law.”
While Vista appears to be behind on the coaching curve, here is where the other schools with football coaching openings stand:• Del Norte is close to naming a replacement for Leigh Cole.• Mount Miguel expects to start the interview process next week to replace Troy Starr. • Rancho Bernardo has named former San Diego Chargers defensive back Eric Weddle as a replacement for Tristan McCoy.
