Pusat Kawalan dan Pencegahan Penyakit China menolak kemungkinan itu dan berdasarkan laporan yang diterbitkan di laman sesawangnya, ia berkata, ujian saringan yang dijalankan secara besar-besaran sudah dapat memastikan penularan kes di bandar itu dikawal.
Menurut laporan itu, analisis genetik daripada sampel dua pesakit Covid-19 dan sampel dari alam sekitar yang diambil di pasar tani Xinfadi menunjukkan virus itu ada kaitan dengan virus di Eropah. Bagaimanapun, kajian lanjut mendapati ia sudah wujud lebih lama berbanding virus Covid-19 yang kini merebak di Eropah.
Laporan itu turut menyebut, kes yang dikaitkan dengan pasar itu berkemungkinan dijangkiti menerusi kontak antara manusia, menyentuh objek yang tercemar atau kedua-duanya.Walaupun ada kes yang tiada kaitan dengan pasar tani Xinfadi ditemui, ujian saringan asid nukleik secara besar-besaran di Beijing menunjukkan kadar jangkitannya adalah rendah.
Malah, usaha Beijing meningkatkan tahap pemantauan dan pelaksanaan penjarakan sosial turut merendahkan lagi risiko penularan.
