Virus crisis to cost Penang hotels ‘up to RM8 billion’

HOTELS in Penang are staring at losses of up to RM8 billion due to the movement control order enforced to curb the spread of the coronavirus, said the Malaysian Association of Hotels state chapter. Penang MAH chairman Khoo Boo Lim told The Malaysian Insight government incentives to retain staff were insufficient so that many employers have had cut to salaries or put workers on unpaid leave.
