Virginians grooving on Gov. GlennYoungkin, approval stays above 50%, writes SecretsBedard.
In the latest Virginia Commonwealth University survey, Gov. Glenn Youngkin has sustained his positive approval rating as he moves to cut taxes and give parents a greater voice in education.
The survey conducted by the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs gave the Republican governor a 52% approval rating, up from 49% in the last survey. Just 32% disapprove.Youngkin, who is being talked about as a possible 2024 presidential candidate, is extremely popular with Republicans. Among the GOP, he has an 86% approval rating. Among independents, it’s 57%, and with Democrats, just 21%.
“Poll respondents feel that inflation needs to be dealt with and democracy ensured for our future,” said L. Douglas Wilder, the 66th governor of Virginia.According to the analysis, “More than half of respondents want to see Youngkin specifically intervene around the issues of inflation, education, and crime during the convening of the 2023 General Assembly session. Of those wanting the governor to take action, a majority were African American , Hispanic , and between 18-34 years of age .
Wilder said in releasing the survey, “The voters are looking for leadership to produce results for all Virginians.”
