The Richmond City School Board approved the resolution Tuesday.
A Virginia school board on Tuesday declared its district a "safe zone" in regards to immigration law enforcement.
The "safe zone" designation for Richmond Public Schools means the district is "a place for students to learn, to thrive and to seek assistance, information, and support related to any immigration law enforcement that interferes with their learning experience," according to the resolution. Additionally, the resolution requires Richmond Public Schools to create within the next month a "Rapid Response Team" to be prepared in the event a student is "deprived of adult care" due to action taken by ICE.shared a video
