Netflix is planning a prequel series for its popular show, Virgin River . The prequel will focus on the love story of Mel's parents, Everett and Sarah , whose younger versions were featured in Season 6. While the prequel is still in development, viewers will see Everett and Sarah again in Season 7. Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith says there's plenty of opportunity to explore their 40-year-plus relationship and highlight major events in their lives.
Smith also mentioned exploring other characters, particularly Hope and her family history, which will be further developed in Season 7 and connect to the prequel.
