Despite his great start to the year, Vikings star Sam Darnold isn't eligible for a massive award.

One of the better stories from the NFL season has been the emergence of quarterback Sam Darnold for the Minnesota Vikings. The former No. 3 overall pick of the New York Jets has looked like the player that many believed he could be when he was drafted into the league.Minnesota currently looks like one of the best teams in the NFL and they hold a record of 5-0 on the season. On the year, he has thrown for 1,111 yards with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions.

If he were to continue his play, he could be in the conversation for the Most Valuable Player honor, which is a much higher award to win in the league. The turnaround of Darnold has been incredible to see but players do tend to thrive in certain situations. The Vikings have done a good job getting him comfortable within their offensive scheme and providing him with strong offensive weapons to work with.
