It wasn't easy, but the Vikings took down the Commanders 20-17 with a late FG to extend NFC North lead.
Greg Joseph hit the go-ahead field goal with 1:55 remaining but the Commanders were assessed an unnecessary roughness penalty for lining up over the long-snapper. Minnesota opted for a new set of downs and wasted more clock. Joseph's 28-yarder with 12 seconds left stood as the game-winner and capped a 15-play, 6-minute drive.
Cousins led a drive that resulted in a Joseph field goal to make it 17-10. On the ensuing Commanders possession, Vikings safety Harrison Smith intercepted Heinicke over the middle, and two plays later, Cousins found Dalvin Cook for a 12-yard touchdown to tie the game. Another Heinicke highlight came later on a rushing attempt in which a spin move that ignited the first"Heinicke" chants of the game.
