A new fan video has shown what the Pokémon series is missing by not including voice acting, depicting a scene with Scarlet and Violet's Nemona, which makes for a much better experience voiced than it does with just text.
While the recently released Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have drawn criticism for a variety of issues, one fan in particular has shown how the presence of voice acting could be a huge improvement. Scarlet and Violet, as the most recent entrants in the series, allow for expansive open-world exploration of the region of Paldea, continuing trends explored by the earlier Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Singer and voice actor Toastymarshmellow on Twitter has recently posted a video showing the benefits that voice acting could provide to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. With ever-present technical issues causing the newest Pokémon games to hit new lows on Metacritic, the video showcases another disappointing aspect of the games - although the presentation has evolved, they still completely lack any voice acting for important scenes.
While many fans will be able to overlook Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's flaws in the face of an impressively open Pokémon adventure, more disappointing for some will be the games' missed potential. Just as glitches and poor performance can mar the experience of exploring Paldea, a lack of voice acting can make engaging characters and elaborate cutscenes fall flat.
With Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's many wild glitches, a lack of voice acting could be seen as a minor issue - especially as the series has never included it in past games. However, as Pokémon leans farther into 3D, with more detailed and better-animated characters, their silence can start to be a problem, in particular with characters like Nemona quickly cementing themselves as fan favorites.
