A North Carolina man is being hailed a hero after he reportedly took action and rescued a woman whose home was caught up in flood waters in the wake of Hurricane Helene ."When it was happening, I was trying to make a calculated risk -- 'How do we save her?'" Hunnell, of Wake County, told the media outlet on Monday.A house appears to be partially submerged in floodwaters and onlookers worry there are people inside.confirmed the homeowner, Leslie Worth , was trapped in the home.
“I grew up swimming on a swim team. I was a lifeguard, OK shape and I just couldn’t watch her die," Hunnell told“It didn’t really hit me until I lay down in bed that night and about had a panic attack, but I didn’t see another option” he added., he used only a life vest and a rope to pull her to safety. The media outlet reported he then invited Worth and her husband to a rehearsal dinner ahead of his son's wedding.
