The two San Diego mosque shooters drove into a neighborhood and fired at a dad pushing a child in a stroller right after they perpetrated the shooting, new dashcam video revealed.
The teen attacker, Cain Clark and Caleb Vazquez, had opened fire on the Islamic Center of San Diego and were minutes away from claiming their own lives when they unleashed even more violence on the community.
Footage shows shots being fired from the suspects’ car, a white BMW, as a dad runs for safety while pushing a child in a stroller.
“Right when I got about here, I heard a loud bang. It sounded like a gunshot, but when I looked left, the second gunshot shattered the windshield,” Jose said, as the footage shown the car’s driver’s side window being shattered by the gunfire. It’s unclear if the shooters hit a nearby landscaper, who fell as he was trimming a tree in a homeowner’s yard.
“He was lying right here,” the homeowner told Fox 5 San Diego. “He took his helmet off, there was blood, but no gunshot wound. I think maybe his helmet impact or the glass, we are not sure. ”“He said that he had said a prayer on the way out of the house that morning and someone was definitely looking out for him,” the homeowner added.
Shortly after the second shooting, the teenagers coordinated to kill each other, with Clark shooting Vazquez before turning the gun on himself. The unhinged dispatch contains scattershot derogatory and racist views targeting a number of groups — including Muslims, Jews and gay people, among others — and described hopes to to instigate an “all-out race war” to bring about the collapse of society.security guard Amin Abdullah were named as the three victims of the mosque shooting.
Abdullah was praised for his actions in helping to prevent further casualties. ”We do believe the security guard was able to help at least minimize the situation to the front area of the mosque,” San Diego police chief Scott Wahl said.
