Latrobe Valley residents are divided over the Coal ition's plans for a nuclear power plant in their region.

The federal parliament's Inquiry into Nuclear Power Generation in Australia travelled to the Latrobe Valley on Tuesday to hear residents' views about the prospect of having a nuclear in their backyard. It fears that solar output will pose an increasing threat to the security of the grid because it is pushing out other forms of generation that are required to keep the system stable.Hayley Sestokas did not need a microphone to voice her views on a potential nuclear power plant in Gippsland.

"We've got grandchildren, we have a little baby born just a few months ago who we really would like to see having as good a future on this planet as we've had," Mr Peck said.Mr Peck travelled from Bairnsdale to Traralgon to attend the anti-nuclear rally. They've been married for 53 years, and they're proud of the century of power generation their community has given Australia.
