Student and fire department volunteers installed flags on the high school's front lawn to honor the victims of 9/11.

Cedar Grove's 9/11 Memorial Flag Installation, Sept. 9, 2022Students at Cedar Grove High School installed 2,977 flags on the school’s front lawn Friday to memorialize the victims of 9/11.

“We jumped at the opportunity to continue this great Cedar Grove tradition of honoring the lives lost on September 11, 2001,” said Cedar Grove Fire Department Chief Michael Grasso in a press release. “We have members of our fire department who helped with recovery efforts at Ground Zero, so it is especially impactful to have them involved with the memorial.”

“It is so important to teach students the significance of that terrible day in our country’s history, and by installing the flags for every person who perished, they get a hands-on lesson that helps ensure that they will never forget,” said Dawn Daura, president of the Cedar Grove Board of Education.
