SAN ANTONIO - Police have identified a man who was tragically killed in a shooting early Friday afternoon on the South Side. According to the San Antonio Police Department, the shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 8900 block of Prairie Hill near Pine Hollow.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, a man was working with the owner of a home when he was shot dead. Police records indicate that the victim was working with a homeowner to clear out a property that the homeowner had recently bought. Perez was tasked informally with watching over the property on May 7. When the property owner returned to the property on May 8, the homeowner and two others found Perez deceased.

Officers at the scene said they found a substance believed to be gasoline in the area. A suspect admitted to fighting V1 the previous night and had visible injuries, but after investigation, detectives found insufficient probable cause to arrest him. Additional information suggested the victim had been seen with a woman prior to the incident, causing tension with another individual, though its relevance is unclear.
