Vice President Kamala Harris has left the Bay Area after being in San Francisco for a climate change discussion.

John Dennis is the president of the San Francisco Republican Party and is challenging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her congressional seat.

“Joe Biden is not terribly popular right now,” said Dennis. “The economy is not doing very well, inflation is really hurting working class people.”The San Francisco congressional district is not expected to flip red, so Harris's visit is an effort to rally the democratic Bay Area base and encourage them to talk about the issues with others.

“Especially being at a place like Berkeley I feel like we're surrounded by the same rhetoric, people who have the same ideas, and people who are on the same page about climate change,” said UC Berkeley student Ema Azhan. “But I'm also very aware, and I think my peers are aware that a lot of people don't think the same way.”

Along with rallying the base and returning to her home state for a quick trip, Harris is also in California to raise money. After Tuesday’s event at Fort Mason, she promptly departed for another fundraiser at an undisclosed location in the city. Vice President Kamala Harris entered the theater to cheers from the crowd. With three weeks left till the midterm elections, the VP’s visit is an effort to rally the Democratic Base. It’s also a trip to raise money for the party. She’s scheduled for a fundraiser after this event.
