A U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard is shown during a Veterans Day parade on Nov. 11 in Mission Hills in the city of Los Angeles. ): This essay was an eye-opener. I served 20 years in the Army, having been in Desert Storm and in Bosnia. I never thought that the media’s reporting on injured soldiers would create the false narrative that people who leave the military are mostly damaged by their experiences while serving.
I agree that, unfortunately, men/women are injured and/or die while serving in our armed forces. But the majority of our service members are good citizens who are productive members of their community. To be told that because you served in the military you can’t rent an apartment because you might do something dangerous is outrageous.
The media needs to tell more positive stories and stop the negative ideas that service members can be dangerous to our community just because they served our country to protect them.In real head-turner, 3 aircraft carriers sail out of San Diego Bay in one dayAdvance Auto Parts closing all California stores, including 14 in San Diego CountySan Diego will soon charge homeowners for trash pickup.
