Veteran broadcaster Amie Pollard acquires WOOF
WOOF FM, WOOF AM, WOOF Dothan

Pollard is just the third woman in the station's nearly 80 year history to be owner.

DOTHAN, Ala. - A new era for one of the area’s most popular radio stations has begun, and it is a familiar broadcasting name that will be leading them into the next chapter.

AMP is lead by Amie Pollard, a local broadcasting veteran of over 25 years who began her career as a sales representative that led to open doors to multiple leadership positions and also brought her voice to the airwaves as one of the most popular voices on morning radio, particularly as one-half of “Pollard & K.C. in the Morning” for WTVY-FM, where she also served as Program Director.

Pollard, who becomes just the third female owner of the iconic WOOF combo brand since its founding in 1948, has made her name outside of local broadcasting as well, capturing national attention in 2009 as a cast member on NBC’s Great American Road Trip and later creating and serving as consulting producer for the BBC and TLC reality series Bama Belles.

Following her national TV run, Pollard would return to area media, serving as Program Director and morning host for Gulf South Communications from 2009 to 2012 and then later returning to Dothan to co-host “Pollard & Owens in the Morning” on B105.3 and serve presently as General Manager for Kensington Digital Media, which owns B105.3 along with 100.5 The Bear, Magic 93.1 and 102.5 The Q. “To step into ownership of WOOF-AM and FM is a profound honor and a true full-circle moment for me,” Pollard said.

“This station is woven into the fabric of the Wiregrass area. I am dedicated to preserving the legendary, hometown heritage that Agnes Simpson and her daughter Leigh so beautifully nurtured, while continuing to serve our local listeners and business partners with the warm, family-first radio they have loved for generations. ” Download the WTVY News4 app to get alerts and stories the moment they are published.
