In a video posted to Reddit, the three officers are seen on top of the man during the struggle. The officers used a stun-gun on the suspect, and one officer punched him at least twice. The officers could be heard repeatedly saying, “Give us your hands.”
A video of Vestavia Hills police officers punched a man during a weekend arrest has sparked concern by some.The arrest took place following a traffic stop at 9:20 a.m. Saturday that ended at Interstate 65 and Lakeshore Drive.While police were processing the vehicle, they encountered another man who walked up to the scene and refused to comply with their commands to leave, authorities said.A struggle ensued between the man and three police officers – two male officers and a female.
“I guess what made us stop was the sheer amount of people that were on top of this one man in the middle of the road,” the wife said, who asked to remain anonymous.The husband, who also asked to remain anonymous, said his main concern was not the tasing as it was obvious the man has most likely been eluding law enforcement, but rather the fact that he was seemingly punched in the back of the head multiple times.
“And so I mean if this guy had a warrant of whatever, you gotta arrest him, you gotta take him in, but there are less lethal options.”
