Jimmy Vesey returns to the Rangers lineup after being a healthy scratch. Head coach Peter Laviolette discusses the challenges of managing a deep roster and praises Vesey's work ethic.
Jimmy Vesey returned to the New York Rangers lineup Saturday night against the Vegas Golden Knights after being a healthy scratch in the previous game. This wasn't the first time Vesey had been out of the lineup this season, but it was his first absence in eight games. The 31-year-old forward acknowledged the challenges of being in and out of the lineup, stating, 'Nobody wants to be scratched. It sort of takes you out of the feeling of being part of it.
' Vesey has missed 10 games this season due to a lower-body injury and has been scratched six times. Head coach Peter Laviolette emphasized the difficulty of managing a deep roster, saying, 'It goes back to what I said, you have 13/14/15 forwards up here and 12 spots. Just makes it difficult.' He praised Vesey's work ethic and professionalism, stating, 'He’s been good. He works hard every day. He’s a pro.' Both Vesey and Chris Kreider, who is on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, participated in the morning skate. Center Bo Groulx was recalled from AHL Hartford to provide added depth at center during the road trip
