The orca with a ghostly white appearance who experts are calling 'Frosty' surprised whale watchers earlier this week.

“We had a captain and a crew member up in the wheelhouse just scanning the water with their binoculars for any sign of these whales for about an hour,” Jessica Roame, education programs manager for Newport Landing and Davey’s Locker Whale Watching told SFGATE. “All of a sudden, the passengers just started screaming.”
The pod of orcas was just a quarter of a mile away. For the next two and a half hours, “everyone was in awe” as the whales swam around the boat and even made a few close passes underneath it, Roame said. “It’s a really rare occurrence to see them, and the fact that we were able to re-sight them was just amazing.”
