Vernon Davis tells TMZ Sports his younger brother, Vontae Davis, is now 'doing well' after his DUI arrest earlier this month and is taking steps to remedy a 'very tough situation.'

As for what he told his bro ... Vernon said,"I just told him I'm going to keep him in my prayers and continue to wish him the best and hope that he continues to do the right thing." Vontae is facing a misdemeanor count of DUI in the case. Court records show he's entered a plea of not guilty to the charge.
