Four German tourists caught enjoying a picnic supper in a Venice square have been fined €4,200 as the city enforces strict decorum rules amid resurgent tourism
Taking advantage of the hot weather, the tourists spread a tablecloth across a disused wellhead in a small square near Campo Zaccaria, set up chairs, laid out cutlery, glasses and a bottle of wine and tucked into pasta.
