Of those killed, 315 have yet to be identified, National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez said on Saturday. Authorities have established 94 temporary camps housing 18,437 people, while 17,907 others remain without permanent accommodation. A total of 86,794 families have received assistance following last month's disaster, according to the government's latest official report. Preliminary government estimates indicate that 25,000 homes are needed.
Authorities have identified around 40 plots of land, covering a total of about 584,000 square metres, for housing projects in Osma and Chuspa. "As long as there is life, there is hope. We still have one or two sites where the situation remains uncertain, active sites where we are searching for survivors," Rodriguez said. Two earthquakes measuring magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 struck the South American nation on June 24, just 39 seconds apart.
