Venezuela's attorney general, Tarek Saab, announced plans to file a formal complaint in the United States against opposition members for allegedly embezzling USAID humanitarian aid funds. Saab claims the funds were diverted for personal gain and to undermine the socialist regime.

On Monday, Venezuela 's attorney general, Tarek Saab, announced that his office will file a formal complaint in the United States against members of the Venezuela n establishment opposition for the alleged embezzlement of USAID humanitarian aid funds. Saab alleges these funds, intended to support migrants and democracy, were diverted for personal gain and to conspire against the socialist regime.

He stated that the Maduro regime will request international cooperation from the United States to extradite several opposition leaders, including former interim President Juan Guaidó, currently residing in exile in Florida after being deported from Colombia. \ Saab specifically accused Guaidó and other prominent opposition figures like David Smolansky, Carlos Vecchio, Julio Borges, and Leopoldo López of corruption. According to him, they allegedly stole millions of dollars in USAID funds, using only two percent for their intended purpose while pocketing the rest or channeling it into anti-regime activities. Saab emphasized that it is time for the Maduro regime, despite its anti-U.S. stance, to collaborate with the United States in prosecuting those involved in the alleged theft and embezzlement of USAID funds. He stressed that this request stems from the development of a desired bilateral relationship between Venezuela and the United States, encompassing diplomatic, economic, and judicial cooperation. Saab assured that his office is prepared to formally file the complaint, building upon their experience collaborating with other countries in the region and Europe.\ Saab further claimed there are 25 open investigations against Venezuelan opposition members for alleged corruption during the tenure of the opposition-led National Assembly (2015-2020), the last democratically elected institution in Venezuela. Maduro dissolved the Assembly in December 2020 and replaced it with a loyalist parliament. Saab accused the former opposition lawmakers of receiving USAID funds intended to aid Venezuelans and migrants. Throughout its 26 years in power, Venezuela's socialist regime, under both Hugo Chávez and Maduro, has repeatedly accused the United States of interfering in its internal affairs.

Ernst Accuses USAID of 'Obstructionism' and Mismanagement, Demands Full AuditErnst Accuses USAID of 'Obstructionism' and Mismanagement, Demands Full AuditSen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), chair of the Senate's DOGE Caucus, alleges the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has engaged in a 'demonstrated pattern of obstructionism,' hindering her office's efforts to ensure taxpayer dollars are not wasted. Ernst cites examples like funding for tourism in Lebanon, Sesame Street in Iraq, and Ukrainian travel to Paris Fashion Week. She further accuses USAID of misleading her staff about the classification of funds going to Ukrainian businesses and of using 'negotiated indirect cost agreements' (NICRAs) that allow for excessive expenditures on items like 'rent for a partner’s corporate headquarters' and 'advocacy costs.' Ernst calls for a full and independent audit of USAID's spending and criticizes the agency's handling of information requests.

Rubio Accuses USAID of 'Rank Insubordination', Clashes with Democrats Over DOGE AuthorityRubio Accuses USAID of 'Rank Insubordination', Clashes with Democrats Over DOGE AuthoritySecretary of State Marco Rubio has launched a scathing attack against the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), accusing it of 'rank insubordination' for its use of taxpayer dollars and its alleged transformation into a 'global charity.' Rubio, who was appointed acting administrator of USAID, criticized the agency for prioritizing its own agenda over the national interest and for its uncooperative attitude towards congressional oversight. The comments come as USAID faces scrutiny from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a presidential advisory committee led by Elon Musk that has uncovered and halted several wasteful payments from the agency. While the White House defended DOGE's actions, Democrats have accused the committee of overstepping its authority and conducting a 'hostile takeover' of the federal government.
