“The bigger you get, it provides an opportunity to take on a bigger role in the technology ecosystem, and I think it serves everyone well.' Vendasta

With about 150 kids from Grades 6 through 8 attending the business technology service company’s first tech camp, the usually lively offices — which include a pair of foosball tables — were teeming with young people and the teachers and volunteers tasked with corralling them for a day of hands-on learning about science and technology. We deliver the local news you need in these turbulent times on weekdays at 3 p.m.

Away from the cacophony of kids running through workshops in coding and near-field communication alongside the robot-building, Vendasta chief marketing officer Jeff Tomlin was stuck in his office. But Tomlin said he’s enjoyed the buzz running through everyone in the company as they prepared for the camp, and appreciates the opportunity to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. While Vendasta has always made an effort to promote science and tech in Saskatoon, having an event of this size was a testament to how far the company’s come in 15 years, he said.

The demand for this year’s camp already has everyone involved thinking about doing a bigger one next year, he added.
