Behind me, a starlet asked what was in a giant ice bucket in front of us. “It’s mini bottles of Don Julio 1942,” I replied. Her eyes widened and she snorted: “Oh, I can’t have that. Inside, a waiter approached the bar, asking the bartender to check for cigarettes she could hand out to guests. They told her they were out. She implored them to check again: “We’re never out of cigarettes,” she said. And for one night, they weren’t.
