Steele fell to Vandegrift 49-35 in the third round of the Class 6A Division II playoffs as mistakes put the Knights in an early hole they couldn't dig out of.
Late in the third quarter, Steele 's Royal Capell intercepted Vandegrift quarterback Miles Teodecki as the Knights tried to climb out of a double-digit halftime deficit. However, the Steele drive brought on by the possible momentum-shifting play was short lived, as Vandegrift recovered a fumble to regain possession of the ball. The Vipers scored on the ensuing drive and ensured any late rally wouldn't be enough for Steele .
