Bob Thompson, former Porter County director of development and stormwater management, has been named deputy engineer for the city of Valparaiso, Mayor Matt Murphy’s office announced Monday morning.
“We’re so pleased to have someone with Bob’s extensive experience and expertise on our engineering team,” Murphy said in a statement. “His diverse background will be an excellent complement to our planning, engineering and redevelopment endeavors including helping to update the city’s ADA transition plan, pathways master plan and engineering standards.” Thompson’s last day with the county was Sept. 29. He resigned at the Sept.
Thompson, Commissioner Laura Blaney, D-South, County Attorney Scott McClure, and former Board President Jeff Good, who represented the center district as a Republican, reportedly were all party to the emails, according to Merkner. “I do not want to work here anymore,” Thompson told the Board of Commissioners on Sept. 12. “I just feel I have done nothing wrong.” That solar ordinance has been repealed and creation of a new one is pending.
