The wedding industrial complex is officially rebounding—and between a vendor arms race and questions about COVID protocols, it’s really nuts out there.
, has run into a similar situation, where florists or production companies making linens were on pause or shut down entirely, and are now either out of the market or still hiring back labor. Both circumstances are driving up costs for couples.
Part of the reason for the stampede is, you may have heard, vaccines. Last year around this time, there was plenty of confusion about what was okay and not okay to do as a person getting married. Mass postponements were rolling, leaving those who work in event production out of work. When weddings did move forward, they had to abide by often byzantine and tricky guidelines, ones that varied from state to state and never quite elided the specter of risk.
