A 29-year-old Uzbek citizen has been arrested in connection with the assassination of Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, a high-ranking Russian military official, in Moscow. Russian authorities allege that the suspect was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence and carried out the attack using a remotely detonated explosive device.
A 29-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan was arrested in connection with the assassination of Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, the head of Russia 's radiation, chemical and biological protection troops, in Moscow. Russia n Federal Police said the suspect was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence officers and tasked with placing an improvised explosive device on a scooter parked near Kirillov's apartment building. The explosion killed Kirillov and his aide.
The suspect used a carshare to rent a vehicle and installed a video camera to monitor Kirillov's movements. Footage from the camera was transmitted to the attack organizers in Dnipro, who remotely detonated the device
