We went backstage at New York Fashion Week to get all the details, tips, and swatches before their release.

earlier this year, UZ just returned for the spring 2020 season with another major launch: seven shades of black eyeliner.

Back in February, makeup artist Diane Kendal used unlabeled liquid liners backstage at 3.1. Phillip Lim. A couple of weeks later, UZ, which is based in Tokyo, was officially revealed to be the brand behind them. It later dropped 13 technicolor shades of the liner, promising to drop shade No. 14.

Just like the first set of liners, the liners have a paintbrush-like applicator made of hand-cut bristles arranged by artisans in Japan's Kumano region. They also have the same octagonal tube. All look pitch black upon first glance, but upon further examination, you'll notice each have a subtle hint of color, shimmer, or texture based on what shade it is. The formula is just as opaque. The only difference is one of them has a hard-to-find matte finish.
