As the second anniversary of the Uvalde tragedy approaches, a nonprofit established in remembrance of one of the victims encourages people to stand in solidarity.

The nonprofit organization, Rise4U, took to X to share an invitation to wear "Spiderman, red, or your favorite basketball gear" on May 13 as a way to honor the life of Uziyah "Uzi" Garcia, a Robb Elementary student who lost his life to the shooting that occurred on May 24, 2022. Uziyah's father, Brett Cross, shared the post as well, calling for people to send pictures of their attire to Rise4U, along with a message to the school district.
We do not let UCISD get brownie points off of Uzi, as they have not accepted accountability for failing him," Cross writes, "nor will they tell us who unlocked the outside doors and left them unlocked leading to our shooter walking into the hallway, so we wait until all the other children are honored before we do Uzi’s remembrance leading up to May 24th.
