Brett Cross , one of the most vocal critics of the police response to the 2022 Uvalde school shooting, has reached an agreement to avoid prosecution on a domestic violence charge by doing community service, undergoing counseling and meeting other conditions, court records show. Cross and his wife, Nikki , were the guardians of 10-year-old Uziyah Garcia , one of the children killed in the May 24, 2022, shooting at Robb Elementary School .
He's also required to receive counseling. He cannot have any 'harmful or injurious contact' with his wife 'either in person, in writing, by phone, electronically, or through third parties,' and he cannot possess firearms during a six-month period of court supervision, court records state. He's also required to complete 40 hours of 'community service restitution,' and he's barred from using drugs and from 'excessive use of alcoholic beverages.
