UTSA students, staff members, and San Antonio residents gathered at the university's main campus to watch the rare total solar eclipse. Professor Angela Speck guided viewers through the event, which was one of the best areas in the city to view the eclipse.
Monday's cloudy skies did not darken the excitement of
's East Recreation Field Complex to kick back on their picnic blankets and camping chairs and watch the historical event unfold. Angela Speck, professor of astronomy and 's main campus, located on San Antonio's Northwest Side, was one of the best areas in the city to view the solar eclipse because it was one of the few areas in San Antonio in the path of totality. Classes at the university were canceled from noon to 2 p.m. to encourage students and staff to watch the eclipse.
