UTSA won the rematch of last season’s conference championship game against Western Kentucky 31-28 in the Alamodome. The Roadrunners had their best running game of the season with 213 yards on the ground.
Florida International fell behind 20-0 in the first half against the University of Connecticut and lost 33-12 in a nonconference game. The Roadrunners are 0-2 on the road against Florida Atlantic and lost in their only previous visit to Florida International in 2017.
FIU’s win over New Mexico State on Oct. 1 was their first win over an opponent in the Football Bowl Subdivision since Nov. 23, 2019, against the Miami Hurricanes. Between the win against Miami and the win at New Mexico State FIU had lost 19 in a row against FBS teams. The Panthers have 48 new players on the 2022 team, including 24 true freshmen.UTSA quarterback Frank Harris is just 3 yards away from 2,000 yards passing for the season. He has the fourth most passing yards in the country.
FIU running back Lexington Joseph ran for 103 yards and his first touchdown of the season in the loss to UConn last week. He has 235 yards on 43 carries this season.
