A Utah teacher went viral online after sharing a special moment with his students last year.
Surrounded by his students on stage at an assembly, Marc Gregson , an English teacher at Eastmont Middle School in Sandy, was getting a first look at the cover art for his first published book. Gregson was emotional, as he dreamed of getting published since he was a kid.His first book, a blend of science fiction and fantasy called "Sky's End," hit the shelves in January and became an instant New York Times bestseller."Sky's End" will become a major motion picture.
“It’s not every day your teacher is like, 'I made book and now it’s going to be a movie,'” one excited student said.With fan art filling up his classroom walls, Gregson said he hoped involving his students in his journey brought inspiration.“I am trying to inspire them in their own dreams and chasing their dreams," Gregson said.
He kept chasing his dreams despite being told "no" hundreds of times. He carved out what little time he had between teaching to write. “I would wake up early at 5:30 a.m. and write an hour before work,” he said. “Then come home and write for another two to three hours in the evening.”He shared another surprise with his students yet again Friday, back on the stage to see his sequel book cover and book trailer for "Among Serpents."The sequel, "Among Serpents," hits the shelves Spring 2025.
Before then, you can catch Gregson at a booking signing in Sandy’s Barnes and Noble on June 1 and on stage as a panelist for this year’s FanX Salt Lake City.
